Stopol: Supply of new machinery

The worldwide-known material supplier Stopol Inc.,USA plans to enter new fields of business and will supply new plastics machinery. After moving to a new,larger building the company is close to finalizing a deal with an undisclosed machinery supplier. Also the type of machinery is not disclosed yet.

Milacron: Purchase of Akron Extruders

Milacron Inc., USA has purchased Akron Extruders Inc., a manufacturer of single screw extruders and intends to move machine production from Canal Fulton, Ohio, to the Milacron Plastics Technologies Group headquarters in Batavia, near Cincinnati. Milacron has also hired James Frankland, Tim Womer and Lew Ferguson as independent process consultants.

Battenfeld : Open House

Battenfeld Extrusionstechnik, GmbH is running an open house in its works in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. “Quality in Profile Extrusion” is the motto of the two day event (conference language : 06.06.2000 German, 07.06.2000 English). The company will show an extrusion line for window main profiles, one line for glazing beads with PCE (Post Co-Extrusion) and one extrusion line for cable trunkings.

Layfield Plastics: Relocation to new fabrication facility

Layfield Plastics Ltd., Canada will move to a new plant in Edmonton to fabricate geomembranes, tarpaulins and liners by end of this year. Layfield invested US$ 1,86 million on land and the new 42,000-square-foot facility.

Omnova: 2nd roofing membrane plant

Omnova Solutions Inc., USA will open it’s second plant to manufacture roofing membranes by end of this year. The new 100,000-square-foot facility is located in Muscle Shoals, Ala. and will have a capacity exceeding 200 million square feet of extra-wide commercial roofing membranes.

Veka: Co-operation with VinylSource

PVC profile manufacturer Veka and VinylSource, USA have decided to co-operate and to pool resources. The co-operation is mainly aimed at Veka’s new composite decking, railing and fencing line and should lift VinylSource’s decreasing sales.

Simona AG : Extrusion Line for 4000mm sheets

Simona AG, Germany is a leading manufacturer of polyolefins sheets. They
recently purchased for EURO 9 million another extrusion line and a new
press for the production of PE- and PP sheets with a width up to 4000mm. The complete line has a capacity of 8.000 jato and is the
first european system that can produce polyolefins sheets with such
width. Another field with a promising future are the high-purity-pipe
systems which a manufactured under clean room conditions. These pipes
made of PP and PVDF are used in the food-, pharmaceutic- and electronic
industry.

Klockner Werke: Lower Film Turnover in 98/99

With a turnover of EURO 614 million in 98/99 Klockner Werke closed their books slightly lower than previous year. But order entry rised 14% to EURO 716 million. The profit in the field of film also increased 14% to EURO 118 million.

University of Bochum: Online measuring of film

The Electronic Division of the german University Bochum has developed a new process to measure und to check the quality of film online. It is possible to check physical properties, co-polymer and multilayer, thickness and grade of polymerisation at the same time.
